Pembentukan Malaysia

On 16 September 1963, a new chapter in Southeast Asian history began as the Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore came together to form Malaysia. It was a defining moment that united different territories, cultures and communities under one nation.

The journey began in 1961, when Tunku Abdul Rahman proposed the formation of Malaysia, setting the stage for years of discussions, negotiations and cooperation.

As Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak played an important role in this historic journey, contributing to discussions surrounding Malaysia's formation and the findings of the Cobbold Commission, which gathered the views of the people of Sabah and Sarawak.

Following the signing of the Malaysia Agreement on 9 July 1963, the vision finally became reality. On 16 September, the birth of Malaysia was officially proclaimed at Stadium Merdeka, marking a defining chapter in the nation's history.

For Tun Abdul Razak, the formation of Malaysia marked another important chapter in his journey of nation-building, helping lay the foundations for a united and developing nation.

More than the birth of a nation, it was the beginning of a shared future, united under one name: Malaysia
